IN PEACE I CAN CLOSE MY EYES

At my half score, did it begin,
Butchery of the worst form.

Weeping, wailing and sorrow,
Resounding in the gloomy skies.

A blitz in the far North,
And a tit for tat in far South.

The pearl of the Indian Ocean,
Enveloped in fear-psychosis.

The poor islanders, undeterred,
Murmured silent prayers.

Yet, the mayhem continued
Till the MESSIAH, long awaited , arrived.

The LIBERATION launched; SATAN smashed!
The fettered sleeping LION woke up!

A sigh of relief, today, at my two score!
In PEACE , I can close my eyes at four score!....

LIFE

LIFE

Life is hypocrisy in its sweetest form
It is all a drama full of pretension;
Happiness is a mask worn over sorrow;
A simple ploy to cover tears;
Beauty is ugliness in disguise;
'Luck' is sweet word for 'chance';
Bravery is suppressed - cowardice;
And LOVE is BROTH cooked with selfishness;
Health is a plaster upon infirmity,
Success is an outcome of failures;
Hope is a rope that ties down;
Marriage is freedom for vulgarity restrained;
Thus the list unfolds one by one;
Like the acts and scenes of a drama.

YOUTH

Decorated with colour
Dipped in fragrance
Brimming with life
Youth is a flower
In its full bloom.

A flower has its softness
Embedded in petals
Nothing exists in likeness
Than the youth so smooth.

When the gentle breeze
Tickles her petals
A sprightly dance goes
Like the youth
That overflows with joy.

So lavishly she serves
Bouts of nectar
Out of her treasured bosom
To every flirting butterfly.

Youth is a flower
In its full bloom.......

The Wail of a Mosquito

Born to same mother,
Among many a siblings,
I'm the brother
She is the sister.

A few days together
Huddled in the water
Soon we left each other
I'm a mosquito brother.

She is an ogress:
A vicious blood sucker;
They remark of her,
A real vampire!
Isn't that incredible?

A suck of sap
Of some wild plant
Ends my hunger
How! You may wonder.

All that besides,
Fate is such,
That we're much alike,
Hence a heavy swat inevitable.

For anther's sin
I risk my poor life,
She is the vector
I'm the poor brother.

Her vicious sharp stings
Brings cruel death upon
Everyone on earth alike,
How I hate it! You may not know.

By strange twist of fate
We shared the same tummy;
By whose fate was it,
Will someone tell me?

ANTS
 The six legged little friends
Ones twos and threes
In a long dotted line
Move ahead and back again
No rest at all
Itsy- bitsy giants.

Greet the friend
Beat the foe
The little engineers
Creep , crawl ; fast and quick
Always on the run
Itsy- bitsy giants

THE DAY BREAK

As the dusk thins out
Exposing the soft veil of mist
Beams of sunlight
Filters through the twigs.

The disturbed hazy mist
Vanishes fast and swift,
The glittering dew, so bright
Adorns every blade of grass.

Myriads blossoms so soft
Slowly opens out
Like a smiling baby, so sweet
Welcome the morning, How nice!

DEW

She, a fairy dew
Descended from heaven
Well snuggled up
To the mantle of dawn
Quivers in shyness.

As the mild touch of sunlight
Tingles her cheeks
The coy dancer
Dangling from blade of grass
Vanishes by and by
With promises to return
The very next day..
